"R" in Top 20 of TIOBE Index

Dear R programmers,

In this May (2015), our favorite "R" almost came to 12th position in the popular TIOBE Programming Community Index (TIOBE Index), however, it is experienced some volatility after that and couldn't move further to top 10. Currently, it holds 19th rank (for this month); wishing it retains its position in top 20 through the rest of the months of the year and hope to move quickly into top 10. Also, find below my compilation of what is R for the analytical solutions (System for Statistical Computation & Graphics), here, it doesn't mean or ignore the latest "machine learning" word, I treat it to be also part of our statistical computations.

Author (mavuluri.pradeep@gmail.com or pmavuluri@analyticaltis.com) of this post, had been using R for complete analytical solutions and educating purposes for a long time. Some 3rd party copyright materials have been reused here under fair usage approach for educating purposes. Hence, current blog post usage is restricted for educating and information purposes and fall under usual copyright usage terms.

Enjoy "R" Programming!

Analytical Skills Development Spending.

Challenged with the acquisitiveness for adaptability and agility, analytical service organizations are turning to real-world work & emergent technologies/methods to develop next-generation analytical skills (talent). However, corporate bosses seems to playing it cautious when coming to their spending on analytical skills development.

According to our survey conducted by us across a good number of analytical services organizations in India, most expect to increase their current spending on analytical skills development (43.8%) in next six months. Around 27.2% organizations expect to spend aggressively in next six months. Only 6.7% expect spending to decrease in next six months. While 22.3% of organizations spending on analytical skills development continue to be frozen in next six months.

Analytical Adoption (Past & Now)

Today, in the evening, there was a sudden request from my old colleague, who said a re-surveyed data of old study (done past three and half years) has arrived and asked for help in updating it. As data was sent in structrued data, hardly it took forty-five mins to finalize the results and another thirty mins to summarize it. While, summarzing I found extreme changes happened in just three and half years of anlaytical solution adoption/implementation. Few, I would like to bring forth and expressing my views on the same.

As, it is evident from above, I, feel change in decsion driver of analytical adoption precisely to  line-of-business heads makes more sense as these are the actual people who deal with project requirements as-well as deliverables. However, preferring multiple vendors against single vendor, makes me to think that now most of companies feel that no single vendor can provide all analytical solutions they required (herein, I doubt, whether companies has eased their data policies as earlier I understood, reason for sticking with single vendor is data privacy?). Finally, pace with which analytical solution adoption/implementation has increased drastically, is this means, now more companies are understanding their business values or going with wave in the market, I would like to understand more.

Also, I have observed, the survey got response from same-old 98% of respondents leaving only 2% of them to be new.
